Below is linked a simple example of an inaccessible Word document. Look at the document and listen to the output of the process Converting Word to Speech (Electronic) with CAR. Keep in mind that if a Word document is accessible Central Access Reader can produce correct and useful Speech (Electronic).

Things to listen for:

  • It is not possible to distinguish headings from the rest of the text
  • Some of the equations are not read aloud correctly
  • Some symbols are not read aloud at all
  • The listener is forced to remember the column headings of the table as they listen to the rows
  • The image is not described
